Book Sale

We will begin accepting donations on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 for our Annual Book Sale on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30, 2023.

This huge annual event is the primary fundraiser for the library. You won’t want to miss the chance to get bargains on new, used and antique books. Our all-volunteer-run event shows our community at its best, drawing shoppers from all over Vermont and nearby states. Held at the Mettawee Community School in West Pawlet because it’s so big–over 20,000 books!

Donation Guidelines

We greatly appreciate the generosity of community donations toward this valuable fundraising effort. Starting April 18, 2023 we begin accepting book donations ON TUESDAYS ONLY, 9-11 AM when the volunteer sorters are present at the sort center, located at Jed’s Compost, 2519 RT 30, four miles south of the center of Pawlet. WE DO NOT ACCEPT BOOK DONATIONS AT THE LIBRARY. Donations are accepted after Labor Day (until cold weather sets in) and then again in April (when the weather gets warmer).

SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ARE ASKED TO CALL 802-325-2708 TO TALK TO A SORT CENTER VOLUNTEER BEFORE DONATING LARGE QUANTITIES OF BOOKS.

Please read carefully the list of books and items WE DO NOT ACCEPT before you pack your boxes. The cost of disposing of damaged books, or books that cannot be sold, falls to the library and greatly impacts our fundraising. Please do not donate books that are moldy, falling apart, missing covers, or are in poor condition. If you have questions about your donation, please call 802-325-2708 and one of our volunteer sorters will get back to you.

We are pleased to accept hardcover, softcover and paperback books and audio/video items, all in good condition, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:
