Becoming a Budding Botanist Through Literature, Art and Nature Explorations

Date :  May 4 through June 8, 2022

Who: Ages 5 – 8

Time:   Wednesdays, 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Pawlet Library Literacy Specialist, Catherine Hunter, will be offering a six week literature art series beginning in May, focusing on the miraculous nature of seeds! Children will explore the life cycle of plants and participate in open-ended art nature projects that will compliment the collection of fictional and nonfiction books chosen to highlight this theme.


Becoming a Young Naturalist: A Tails and Tales Summer Program

For children ages 6-11 / FREE / Class size limited

Monday through Friday, July 5-9, 9:30 am – noon

Literacy Specialist Catherine Hunter creates a natural science lab at the library for this indoor and outdoor exploration of animals in Vermont habitats. The program is rich in literature and experience, including the creation of personal nature journals that mix deep observation, art and writing. Informed by some of the best natural field guides, young naturalists will get their start in a lifelong appreciation for animals and their natural habitats. This program is supported by grants from the Vermont State Libraries and Stewart’s Holiday Match.


Wednesdays at the Library: Reading and Art

For Grades 1-6, 6 sessions, 9:30am-12:30pm

April 14-May 19, 2021, in person*

Registration is required because class size is limited. Call 802-325-3123.

Reading Specialist Catherine Hunter explores renowned children’s authors and their picture books, emphasizing their craft/style and themes. Sessions will include open-ended art projects following each illustrator’s techniques.

*COVID-19 health protocols will be followed. Health checks and masks will be required.
