Welcome to the Pawlet Public Library

Help Shape the Future of Your Library

The Pawlet Public Library is committed to creating a welcoming, accessible library for everyone in our community. We’re currently gathering feedback to help identify ways to improve access to our building, services, collections and programs for individuals with hearing, vision, mobility or other accessibility needs.

If you have experienced barriers to using the library, or have ideas that could help make the library more welcoming, we invite you to complete our confidential Accessibility Survey. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and is open through Monday, July 20th.

Your experiences, ideas, and recommendation will help us guide future improvements and insure the library continues to serve our entire community.

About us

For more than 120 years, the Pawlet Public Library has been a place where community comes together to learn, discover, create and connect. Since opening in 1903, the library has evolved to meet the changing needs of Pawlet and the surrounding towns. In 2002, the library moved into the beautifully restored historic former Pawlet Grammar School, where it continues to serve as a welcoming gathering place for people of all ages.

Today, the library offers a collection of more than 10,000 books, audiobooks, DVDs, and other material, along with access to digital resources, high speed internet, and interlibrary loan services that connect our patrons to libraries throughout Vermont and beyond. Through Programs, events, and shared experiences, we strive to foster lifelong learning, creativity, and meaningful connections within our community.

Our Vision

The Pawlet public Library is an essential player in sustaining and creating a vibrant, revitalized, and resilient community.

Our Mission

The Pawlet public Library’s mission is to provide a leadership role in unifying the community through shared resources and meaningful experiences for all generations.
