Root for the Library Raffle 2022

We are so grateful to the all of local businesses and friends that have donated items to this year’s Root for the Library Raffle fundraiser. We invite you to browse through the fabulous selection of items and purchase your ticket for a chance to win. Tickets are $25 each or $100 for five tickets. Complete each ticket, including the number of the item you want. 

  • Mail or bring in your purchased tickets and check payable to Pawlet Public Library on or before 5 p.m., October 4.
  • The drawing will be held at 6 p.m. on October 4 at the Library Board meeting.
  • You do not need to be present to win. We’ll call or email the winners.
  • Items must be picked up at the Library by November 8.

ITEM # 1

Framed 13”x19” Print ‘Barn in Cornfield in Rupert, Vermont’

Caleb Kenna is a photographer and certified drone pilot in Middlebury, Vermont. Kenna uses DJI drones to make aerial photographs of Vermont’s varied landscape. From lone trees to winding rivers, Caleb creates bird’s-eye views above the Green Mountains. From the lime green of spring to the verdant hues of summer, Caleb photographs Vermont from a new aerial perspective. Caleb’s photos have been published by The New York Times, National Geographic Online and Yankee Magazine. His book Art From Above Vermont will be published in September 2022 by Schiffer Publishing.

Leah Tinari is an artist based in New York, NY. Since graduating from RISD in 1998 Tinari has documented her life and friends through photos and paintings that capture the energy and exuberance of her surroundings. Her signature use of rich bright color and dynamic composition continues to captivate viewers with its contemporary content and references to the history of figurative painting. Tinari has done campaigns with Nike, American Express, Mini Cooper and Collaborations with Bergdorf Goodman, Rebag, Uniqlo and Hoppy Beverage Co. (Japan) She and her work have also been featured on the Rachael Ray Show, CBS This Morning and Inside Edition.

Chris graduated from Clark University with a BFA and since then his creative path has been a winding one. After spending a few years in film and television production in NYC he became a founding member of the alternative rock band BELLY. After the band parted ways he returned to NYC to focus on photography. In 1999 he opened Gorman Studio and spent 15 years providing photographic services to a wide variety of clients with a range of subject matter from product, fashion, portraiture, still life and chainsaw wielding chimpanzees. In 2015 his first children’s book “Indi Surfs” was published. Chris lives in R.I. with his wife and 2 children.

Chair Caning By Adelle Santwire

New seats for old chairs is Adelle’s specialty! Adelle is a self-taught chair caner. After perfecting the art of hand-caned seats, she learned to master other forms of seat weaves, using different materials such as fibre rush, learning patterns of splint seat weaves, working with seagrass and shaker tape. She has taken on challenges that other weavers have refused, and keeping these antique chairs in use today is worth the time and effort to add beauty, history, and elegance to any home.

Brooke Hughes-Muse is a Registered Yoga Teacher, and VT-Certified and Registered Massage Therapist. Her massage studio is located in Pawlet, VT  and specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and prenatal massage, as well as cupping.

FRAMED facsimile, NASSAU, WINSLOW HOMER, 1899

Value $100 | Donated by Pawlet Library

Take home a piece of art history. In 1884, Maine artist and illustrator Winslow Homer received a commission from Century Magazine to illustrate an article called “A Midwinter Resort” about Nassau, the port city of the Bahamas. During the two months he stayed on the island, Homer painted more than thirty watercolors of a variety of subjects.
